Can we also have an Apple Blunder of the year? Maybe that would keep Apple on their toes and get them to make even better products.
My bet would be the glossy screens on the iMacs and macBooks. I know a few people that decided against an iMac because they didn't like the idea of seeing themselves in the mirror all day.

I love the glossy screen, I only see it if I use my MacBook or MacBook Pro outside or with the screen turned down to the first brightness setting, and then only the outline of my arms. For movies it's awesome!

Apple Product of the Year: Obviously, the biggest maker of Mac products gets an award all to itself. Any and all products released by a certain Cupertino-based company in the past yearhardware or software, Mac, iPod or iPhoneare eligible for this honor.
With the foul of iPhone by Apple recently this award must go to the iPod Touch instead! Even with the lower space available and lack of cell phone capabilities, it's hands down the winner this year.
Third-Party Hardware of the Year: Printers, scanners, cameras, digital devices, and any other hardware vie for this award.
This ones a hard one, those wireless "n" products that are popping up everywhere that make it possible for the mini to use Apples new Extreme "n" router, would be my first choice because that's the biggest thing I had to get for my new Mini this year. Or the EyeTV250 Plus, which allows hardware encoding of digital channels and doesn't require the turbo.264 to achieve it, which also would get a nod from me.
Third-Party Software of the Year: Any application across the wide array of software categoriesaudio, video, digital imaging, utilities, games, and morecan be nominated here.
Hmm, this is even tougher, maybe Cider or even VMWare Fusion.
Mac Gem of the Year: As our Mac Gems weblog illustrates every week, great software doesnt necessarily have to come from giant companies; sometimes, the best apps out there appear with little fanfare. Wed like to help those programs get a little more recognition, so let us hear about your favorite under-$50 apps.
Perian codec or VisualHub... Both would tie for my vote! Since neither MacTheRipper or Handbrake are out of beta yet.

I'd pick the iPod touch. Instead of the iPhone minus the phone, it was deliberately crippled and uses an inferior screen. The screen issue doesn't bother me or most people. Likewise, the new chicklet keyboard.
Runner up would be dropping the price $200 just after introducing it. I'm not one to whine about a price cut, but the firestorm that arose clearly indicated a big blunder. Kudos for the $100 vouchers.

Apple Product of the Year:
Should I wait for hardware announcements in October? Still looking for a half-height Power Mac.
GarageBand 4 (NOT iLife 08, Just GarageBand 4)
Third-Party Hardware of the Year:
Canon HV20 with the first toe dip into progressive capture in a sub-$1k camcorder.
EyeTV Hybrid.
Third-Party Software of the Year:
Mac the Ripper
MPEG Streamclip
Garritan Personal Orchestra
Google Earth
Mac Gem of the Year:
Amadeus Pro
Online Bible
rooSwitch
Not sure of the release dates of the above. I use them all the time and each have received upgrades this year.

Third-Party Software of the Year: MacGourmet. Since getting my Mac, I've bought licenses for several programs that want to help me organize my information -- in general, like DEVONthink and Yojimbo, and in specific, like Delicious Library -- and I use none of them save for MacGourmet. Like iTunes and Address Book, it elegantly meets my information needs.
Mac Gem of the Year: Quicksilver. There are other programs I might suggest, but thinking about my computing habits, I just have to give props to Blacktree. I use Quicksilver every day.
