Been there done that, now how do you get it AT THE APPLE STORE ONLINE?!?!?!
RIDDLE ME THAT BATMAN!
Furthermore, it's not a valid promotional code nor does it show up in my Apple Store account!
UPDATE... Figured it out, had to apply for a 2nd code & get it through my iPhone (don't know why), then the Apple store makes it impossible to claim the money. Geez, You have to actually change your billing info, erase a credit card, add a gift card, then add BACK your original credit card to pay the balance just to get the transaction to go through and get your deserved credit!
What a Mongolian cluster-F
Not very good policy Apple! Shame on you Steve Jobs. You're earning your cheap car salesman reputation more and more every day and I'm an Apple FANBOY! :-(

A polite warning to all the qualified G4 owners out there-
Get a Core Image qualified graphics card.
Just looking at Leopard and using my own experience with a new GPU and Logic Studio, Apple is really pushing this technology to run the "pretty things" in the OS.
If you don't have a Core Image qualified graphics card I wouldn't even bother looking at Leopard.

I purchased a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro for my G4 MDD /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Works great!

I'm a bit concerned about the automatic shared computer listings in the Finder sidebar. While this may be fine for home use, what happens when Leopard is used in a large business network with dozens or even hundreds of computers? Are users going to start seeing dozens of computers popping up and disappearing in the sidebar as those machines are turned on and off?
I suspect that some businesses may want to limit the use of this feature. Is it possible to prevent the sidebar from automatically displaying shared computers?

So will this produce some slowdown on the macs with integrated Intel graphics when compared to Tiger?

Good news about the G4's being covered -- think I"d better get my old G4 iBook in for servicing

What do you mean about getting a G4 serviced before installing Leopard? Is there a Leopard checklist for an upgrade path?
Is there a way to try before I buy? I could put a trial version on an external drive and boot into Leopard.

I suspect it will be the same as Tiger, i.e. Core Image will be supported, but only for non-real-time processing. If you have no real need for the real-time effects -- and most people don't -- Leopard should be fine; you just won't get all the "pretty things".

Some things to note before buying Leopard...
Tiger did NOT have a minimum CPU speed requirement like Leopard does.
But Tiger also did not support CPU upgrades either but most if not all worked eventually.
As for Core Image & video card requirements, it's anybody's guess right now I think.
But I've noticed that several Ebay sellers already think they've got Leopard-compatible graphics card upgrades, like this Mac[/u]Geniuses guy.
I guess we'll all find out on Oct. 26. :-)

Leopard and Leopard Server are different products, rather than different versions of the same product, much like Windows has standard and server versions; we don't include the latter when poking fun at the myriad versions of Vista /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Whoa ... The retail version is the same price as usual at $129 but the Education price is $116!
Didn't the previous edu versions cost something like $79? Seems Apple is getting stingy with the college discounts. I could understand when they dropped the edu price on iPods because they dropped the price for everyone but that's not the case here.
Ok, I admit it ... Apple is GREEDY! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I purchased Mac OS 10.4 on 4-27-05 for $69 + $4.06 in tax. It seems that the education market is used to get rid of excess iPods & not to help students with the most current OS & thus keep them from the Windows market. This is just more proof that Apple is basically an electronic trinket company now. No wonder computer is no longer in their name.
