Is there any possible chance that Apple will put a Penryn processor in their Macbook line?
I'm graduating next May and getting a Macbook when i leave school. Since MacWorld, the E3 of Mac announcements, is in January, I was hoping that if they shoehorned a Penryn into the Macbook line (the consumer-targeted kind), then i'd be set for a good while without having to worry about upgrading. Any chance of this happening?

Really the question is not if but when. Penryn is Intel's next generation chip and it's safe to assume that all Apple computers will eventually be upgraded with the new chip.
However, Intel hasn't even released it's standard desktop and laptop oriented Penryn chips. I don't think they will be out until 2008.
I doubt that the MacBook will be a top priority for the new chip because I'm sure Apple wants to put it in their MacBook Pros and iMacs before the MacBooks and Mac Minis.
It's unlikely Apple will update the MacBooks to Penryn in January but there's a chance they'll have the new chips by May. Don't hold your breath though. Only time will tell.
