How can it be overpriced when last year it cost $900 to make, and sold for only $600?
Because $600 is overpriced for a game console, regardless of how much it cost to make. In addition, the vast majority of PS3 titles just flat out suck. Tell me why I should shell out $600 for a console with a weak library when I can get a 360 with a much stronger library for less?
And let's not forget that the Wii only costs $250, and it also has a stronger library than the PS3 in addition to a more innovative control scheme and it's actually fun to play.
There's literally only one game I want (or is any good at all) on the PS3, Rachet and Clank Future. Is that worth $600? I don't think so. Hence the PS3 is overpriced. Pretty simple.

Overpriced underachiever?
Overpriced??? 300 less than a similarly speck'd XBox 360's... when did $300 less become overpriced? I bet you secretly want a Dell so you can claim that Dell's are cheaper than Mac's. Another argument that has been a falsehood for years.
Underachiever? 12 months into its sales cycle the XBox 360 sold about 5 million units. 12 months into its sales cycle the Playstation 3 has sold about 5 million units. No underachievement there.
Sales of the XBox 360 are dropping. Sales of the Playstation 3 are going up. In fact all sales forecast show the gap between the XBox and PS3 narrowing by only 2 million units by the end of '07, and by mid to late '08 PS3 units sold surpassing the 360.
And when did selling 5 million anything become a failure? I bet Microsoft would love to have sold 5 million Zune players in the first year. If we at Atari had sold 5 million Jaguar game systems Sam Tramiel would have personally come into our offices and given each and every one of us a kiss full on the mouth.
I am so tired of this screw number 2 if it is not world domination you are nothing but a looser. I guess we have Nike to thank for that.

Peter, I don't agree. The strengths of the PS3 are shared by the 360, which has a vastly better library in addition to having Xbox Live and being cheaper. Normally I would agree with you and in the past I have gotten every console because I'm not a platform bigot, believe it or not. In fact, my favorite console is probably the PS2.
That being said, I'm also not a fan of throwing money away. There is only one compelling reason to buy a PS3, and that is to have a cheap-ish blu-ray player. As a game console, it fails. It's not because of the hardware which is pretty powerful - it's because it's priced too high and its game library is pathetic.

I think a problem Sony is in for is customer dissatisfaction when people discover that the "cheap" version of the Playstation 3 isn't backward compatible (at all) with PS2 games. I don't think most people realize this and I know of at least one family that was planning to sell their PS2 because they thought the PS3 they were getting their son for xmas was backward compatible. Lucky them that someone told them before they did sell it. Sony has made a complete mess of things in this regard IMHO. Full compatibility with earlier models, partial compatibility (via software) for the new high end model, and no compatibility at all for the new low-end model.

Pathetic library!
Did you look a the latest PS3 games like Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank and coming next week Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
Xbox 360 have excellent games but so have the PS3.

Sony noted that more than 200 titles have been release for PS3 since it launched.
What 200 titles? Is this correct? Gamespot shows about 140 released so far, and many of those are in Japan. If there are 200 games available we only see a handful in the states. My local BestBuy has a pathetic display of PS3 games. Hopefully this will be changing in the near future.

Interesting facts. I new eventually the PS3 would over take 360 because they are sony, and playstation is still the dominant gaming platform. Even with the M$ efforts and lower price tag they can not outsell PS3's. It's kind of funny to watch everybody diss, and deny the facts while it's out selling 360's.
