I'm increasingly thinking Apple are messing up the iPhone launch. Singaporeans have one of the highest turnover rates for mobile phones in the world (one of my friends over there replaces her handset every six months) since they are seen as an essential fashion accessory. It was, in my opinion, entirely predictable that there would be such pent up demand that someone in Sim Lim would start selling them.
Singapore should have been a key target market for early launch.

I would very much agree with Paul, in fact I would say Asia has a very high turn-over rate for mobiles as compared to US or Europe. I think more than 50% of the iphones sold is use for unlocking, the earlier report are more conservative. Apple should launch the iphone in Asia earlier to reap the profits. The reported June launch in Asia is kind of late.

It's the same in Hong Kong, iphones are on the market and quite popular as unlocked units. It's a must get item.
