The main RSS feed http://rss.macworld....orld/feeds/main does not work in both IE7 and FF/Win (hey, I'm at work). On IE7 the feedview is empty but "view source" does reveal the code. On FF the feed shows as items in a feedview page (and view source is fine too) but once subscribed as a live bookmark, that dropdown remains empty forever.

Nice job with the remodel. I would like to suggest adding the ability to rate (ie. digg) or bury reader comments. Over the years, I've noticed that the reader comments here have become much more politicized an/or mean spirited. It would be nice to give us readers the ability to "police" the forums and give immediate feedback by burying those who are not playing nice. If a comment gets buried enough, then the comment would be permanently buried.

Overall, I like the new design. It's cleaner and more contemporary. I bypass the Home page and go directly to News, several times a day, and there are two minor refinements I wouldn't mind seeing. Although articles are listed by date and time along the right, they are no longer separated by day. Also, the headings are too small and don't stand out. Many new sites have alternate layout styles that you can choose from, and it would be pretty easy to add some for a page like this.

I do not like the new format. I always seem to have an issue with how slow the pages load, and it's not my connection. I really hate how slow they load on an iPhone. You can't click on a link until the page is complete, or it just reloads the page. My workaround for all the small text and large ads is to just go to www.macworld.com/news page instead. it's similiar to the old format and loads quicker with smaller and fewer ads and navigation links.

Jason,
Previously, I had mentioned the site hadn't logged me out.
Today 17, I just edited a post about, "Miss Belgium..." without being logged in.
I had logged in earlier, then logged out yet the site thinks I'm still logged in.
Thought you might want to know.
Peter
btw) I'm using Safari Version 3.0.4 (523.12) if that helps. I'll see if I'm logged in in FF.
FF, I was logged out. I opened Safari again and I'm still logged in. have fun.

I agree about the print size. It's way too small. As someone else said "Maybe MW could add a font increase icon to the page to allow us old codgers to set the page font size. Another idea would be to give us a font preference setting for viewing various areas of the site. I also like the idea of new headlines being in red or with "New" next to them as DealMac does. But I actually do like the way they are time stamped so that isn't as important as the size to me. Who said size doesn't matter???
Cheers,
Kit

I agree with DonC's assessment of the new website. My immediate reaction (first 30 seconds) was: I do not like this! After moving around on the site a bit, my opinion was confirmed: Huge amounts of wasted space; big visual emphasis on ads; low visual emphasis on content; font size of headers is too small to read at a glance for navigation; major header colors are boring and not eye-catching; no obvious way to identify what page you are on; hard to even figure out how to post this message. It no longer feels like it is very carefully designed to serve the real needs of USERS... which is the central mantra that has made Apple products such a success. I really don't like it.

Maybe its just my computer but the fonts on the left (the links to the various forums) are blurry. At least they are on my mac. When I view this site on my work computer they're fine.
Any ideas why the mac seems to produce a less then pleasing result? I'm just using the default safari that came with leopard.
Also for a mac forum I'm surprised that I only see a tab for plain text but on my pc I see an option for rich text? I would think that this site would provide the same options on a mac as on a pc. Seems kind of weird, it doesn't bother me, unlike the fuzzy fonts do at least.
