Still getting my bearings but I love the look of the new site. Much more modern and fresh. I look forward to discovering all the new features.
Couple of gripes so far.
Yes, you need to work it out so users can sign in with the user name, rather than an email address. Remembering what address I used almost 6 years ago to register was no small feat - especially since I haven't had that email account for years.
Secondly, I noticed post counts have been cut by more than half. It's no biggie really but to long-time members like myself, that reduction represents quite a bit of time and effort. I also noticed a new "points" system. What's that based upon?
All in all though, I'm liking it! :)

I thought perhaps it would be a better situation. I find navigating to and through forums confusing and worse than old forums. Also, as Philbert commented, not sure about the post count, etc., how that is determined and relationship to old board.
I will take a wait and see attitude.
Oh, yeah, the link on the announcement provided by kellie does not work concerning Feedback Forums (just above the main forum list).

I love the new look and feel of the site. It is fresh, clean and easy to navigate. Props to you guys for making the change.
The boards, well, I'm still not completely sold yet. While there are some aspects that I enjoy so far, the boards really don't have a distinct feel from other sites. The previous boards had a more unique feel to them which set them apart. Just a few initial thoughts. There are, however, a few features that seem to be very useful and well thought - like the history tab. Very cool.
Overall I like the new site!

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm not talking about the forums, I talking about ARTICLES in the actual blogs. If you go to MacGems blog, you see a list of the 10 most recent articles, but there's no way to get to older ones. If I want to read more Gems reviews there is no way to get to them. There is no section for Gems in the Community/Discussion area, and no link to an "archive."
Now Creative Notes DOES have a section in the Community>Create area, but once you're in there, you have to wade through all the forum discussions to find the ones that are actually articles. This is completely unintuitive at the least - and all but kills forever the ability to read all but the latest articles.

Welcome back!
I think you did a great job listening to the feedback many of us posted.
I certainly have seen some improvements along the lines I suggested (or how I would've done it myself ;) ), so, I think you're on the right track.
It may have some extra white space, but I'm not complaining about that. Other viewers should know that apart from a style choice it sometimes is a cross platform compatibility choice. If you make things ' too tight ' it will break in certain browsers.
Forum takes a little getting used to, but that's OK.
[Btw: I couldn't comment on the front page story by Jason Snell regarding the new launch. Character counter not working. Submit button inactive. Safari 3 on 10.5.1 ]

Macworld was my home page for a few years. Now all I see is advertisements. Oh, and in the center in the same size font is the real reason for the site, the latest news about the Mac. You need to make the Mac News stand out from the advertisements. I don't like looking at advertisements.

HI Philbert,
I can answer your question about post counts and points. We did do a conversion from old post counts to new, not with the intention of lowering everyone's post count, but with the intention of not starting everyone from scratch with 0 points.
The points are loosely, but not entirely, based on post count. Everyone gets 1 point for each post that they make. When people start threads, they have the option to mark that thread a question. (It's marked as a question by default.) This allows that person who started the thread to come back later and mark answers as either helpful or correct. If your answer is marked helpful, you get 2 points. If your answer is marked correct, you get 4 points. So obviously, the way to get more points is to post answers that other people deem to be correct or helpful.
I hope that clears things up for you!
