Geez, my XPS M140 can run WoW better than that with nearly half of the specs! Not to mention being two years old! It looks like I'm waiting until Macworld before making the switch. Hopefully, they'll use a more sturdy construction than the original!

The MBP may get a redesign but I think that Apple will stick with the aluminium casing. If you look at the Mac line-up the only products that are still built from polycarbon are the MacBooks and the mini; the new iMacs also sport the aluminium look.

Interesting. Just HOW easy is it to damage the Macbook Pro. Browsing these forums makes it seem if you drop a pen on it; it will cause an explosion, sending fire and sparks everywhere!

How durable are the aluminum cases?

I've only had a MacBook Pro for about a month or two, and I'm VERY careful with it. But I can tell you that I've had a 500mhz G3 iBook for years and the thing looks nearly new. I've dropped it, scratched it, bumped it, spilled on it and more but the thing still looks and works great.

Generally speaking, I believe the iBook/MacBook line is much more durable that the PowerBook/MacBookPro line in general. But hey, get a great case and be careful with the thing and it doesn't matter anway.

I'd imagine it would take a significant force to damage the casing. And the overall build quality is exceptional, easily the best of the numerous laptops I have owned or used.

My only reservation previously was the keyboard issue - I haven't experienced any further problems with it since downloading the update .

I've just finished questing in the burning crusade on my macbook SR 2.2 GHz, 1GB RAM and I have to say that it is terrible. It barely runs. I can't bare to play it anymore. I'd rather play something a little less intensive like EvE online. Do not get the macbook if you are planning on playing WoW (REALIABLY). Just a heads up. I only got the macbook because it came in black. I thought that I could get away with playing WoW but the game gets 30-40 FPS Indoors and as soon as you go outdoors its 5-15 FPS (YUCK). In areas like IF or Shattrah City, forget it. Your FPS will be in the Single digits. X_X I'm really contemplating taking back this macbook and getting the pro....but I already ordered the acessories for the 13" macbook. I love this laptop to death...but if it can't handle WoW with at least 30 FPS consistantly.....you will find others like myself greatly dissapointed.

That pretty much seals the deal for me. Going to wait until MWSF before buying a Macbook Pro. If a 13" comes out, that will cause the only hard decision left to make. Thanks for all your help, guys!
