I share the same concerns as dfs. If I am sitting safely at home with my 2 Macs, Airport Extreme, and Intego NetBarrier - what does 'allow or block incoming connections' mean to me? If I allow incoming connections for my email program Microsoft Office 2008 Entourage, will it negate my other firewalls? If I block incoming connections, will my email program still function properly?
Checking under Leopard Mac Help under "Setting firewall access for services and applications" called up the following:
"NOTICE: Blocking a programa??s access through the firewall could harm the program or other programs that depend on it, or affect the performance of other applications and services you use."
I understand the possible settings when on the road, but at home, a further explanation would be greatly appreciated.
