Hello All,
I have an external firewire maxtor hard disk that I have partitioned into 3 volumes: iMac Backup, Macbook Backup, and Extra Storage. I connected the disk to the MacBook. In my account, only iMac Backup and Extra Storage showed up on the desktop and in the My Computer window. In my friend's account on the MacBook, All three volumes showed up on the desktop and in the My Computer window.
I used Disk Utility to verify the maxtor disk and disk utility that everything was ok. After a restart, Macbook Backup still isn't showing up in my account. How do I get all 3 volumes to mount in my account?
Thanks,
danmacman

It definitely sounds as if this may be a permissions issue. Running repair permissions from Disk Utility and restarting should resolve the matter, as Rcovell has already mentioned.
By the way there is no such thing as a “My Computer” window; unless you created one, there is no directory called “My Computer” on a Mac. What I believe you meant to say is that, “All three volumes showed up on the desktop and in the ‘Computer’ folder,” which you view in a Finder window. You are not using Windows anymore. ;-)

Hello,
I tried repairing the permissions and restarting and all three volumes now appear on the desktop.
About the "My Computer" window. I guess I meant the "Computer" window in the finder. I have never been a windows user and I much prefer Mac OS X. That was a silly mistake on my part.
Thanks,
