I was reviewing my log files and in the appfirewall log my system is logging the following:

Dec 31 09:09:56 Nicksmac Firewall[50]: 64000 Deny TCP 192.168.0.1:65228 192.168.0.69:445 in via en0
Dec 31 09:10:17 Nicksmac Firewall[50]: 5007 Deny TCP 192.168.0.1:65233 192.168.0.69:139 in via en0

My router is assigned 192.168.0.1 and my Mac 192.168.0.69, I am connected via a Qwest DSL router.

Anyone have some idea how to identify what ports these are and why my system is continuously logging this - thanks

The digits after the colon are the port numbers.

65228 and 65233 I dunno.

The 445 and the 139 are for Samba (SMB) Which allows windows to see(share) your hard drives. Do you have a windows box on the network?

This is why I prefer the hardware router to do all the firewall work. Lets you turn off the firewalls on the individual computers without too much risk. Just lock your main router down good and tight and stealth it.

A good utility to check this is Steve Gibson's ShieldsUp
