I'm looking into replacing our old G4 Desktop computer at work for the new 20-24 inch imac. Does anybody have any pros and cons about this switch? Just keep in mind that this is a advertising company. We mainly focus on direct mailing and some interactive. Software used: Adobe CS Design & Web, Quark and Office for mac.

I have read that the new iMac displays are less good than the previous ones in terms of color rendering and viewing angles. Glare can be an issue depending on the setup (windows, lamps).

The main difference with the new iMacs is the fact they're now using a glossy screen as opposed to the matte screen in prior iterations. That being the case color is typically over-saturated. If you're using CS (instead of CS3) you may run into problems using the suite on the new computer (regardless if its a MacPro or an iMac) because there's some issues with Leopard and CS (and to a lessor extent CS2).

Over all the iMac is an excellent computer and it should be more then adequate for what your looking to do.

My recommendation is to max the ram out and get the largest HD you can afford, the machine will fly then.

PS: I should have noted that the viewing angle & color issues I mentioned are for the 20"

The 24" model uses a better screen technology, but is still glossy. Which may or may not be an issue for you.

Other than that the new iMacs are fast as can be.

Note also that MacWorld Expo is coming up, which could bring some updates to some of Apple's products. No guarantee, but they traditionally do introduce some new stuff and updates.
