Now we're talking! Forget Hitachi's 12.5 mm drive which won't fit into any Mac laptop, nor in most 2.5" enclosures. Samsung's news is definitely relevant to MacWorld, versus last week's Hitachi story.

I wonder about Samsung's reliability, though. Anybody own a Samsung HD?

I've used a few Samsung laptop drives for last a few years. The early model (a 80GB) was not good enough and crashed after a year. But their quality seems to have improved a lot, in terms of noise level and power consumption. My latest one is a 250GB SATA, being running for a month. I quite like its performance.

It is the end of March and this drive is not listed for sale anywhere. Vaporware. Why is it that the real world release date of announced products are several months later then posted date? Who do you have to know to get this hard drive?
