Umm... maybe the power cord is loose? I know it sounds stupid, but that's what happened to me once. The power cord wasn't in tight, so I thought the machine was possessed. Once I realized it was loose, I tightened it and it never turned off unexpectedly after that. But that was with a Mac IIcx, not a Dual G4.

Put your worries aside. Chances are that you simply need to reset the cuda switch. (A very small button next to the battery.) Unplug the machine and push the button ONE TIME ONLY. Don't hold it in and don't push it more than once. ON-OFF Reconnect the power cord and start 'er up.
(The reason for the emphasis is because if you don't follow those directions closely, you can really cause problems with your machine.)
Here's Apple's document on the subject.

Jack71,
I had a similar experience with a G4 667MHz Mac about a year and a half ago. It turned out to be a bad power supply and apple replaced the whole computer for me. The only difference was that when I reset the PMU (power management unit) next to the battery, it fixed the problem for a few times before dying completely. Keep us posted when you find out the answer.

Sorry about that. I was farily certain that would take care of it. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Well, another thing to try is resetting the logic board. The steps below are from another AKB article. (Actually, it's from the link provided on the first one.)
Well, another thing to try is resetting the logic board. The steps below are from another AKB article. (Actually, it's from the link provided on the first one.)
- 1. Unplug the computer.
2. Press the Power On button on the front of the unit.
3. Open the side access panel.
4. Remove the battery from the logic board.
5. Wait at least 10 minutes before replacing the battery.
6. Make sure the battery is installed in the correct +/- direction.
7. Reassemble the computer and test the unit.
[/list]
You might need to reset some preferences after doing this.
