Microsoft who have, despite hoards of talent and cash, have some of the worst online properties imaginable is now going to manage Yahoo who despite floundering financially of late have some of the most promising. What a nightmare for everyone but the stockholders.

Hmmm, here's something to think about, most everyone is talking about this as its a done deal, but as mentioned, someone else could throw in a bid, what about Google? They have the most to lose from this deal, and plenty of money, regulators likely would throw fits, but it could get very interesting indeed.

I wonder if this means AT&T also becomes Microsoft? Since SBC, created out of Yahoo, now owns it, which has changed it's name to AT&T since it acquired it. Though I don't see AT&T really wanting to give up Yahoo, with all that means, it would lose it's high speed internet provider, and many customers to go along with it. Unless it has other plans for it's internet services.

Okay so I was incorrect in this statement to a point. SBC used to be part of the original AT&T, when the feds ordered the split up of the "Bells" it was created out of AT&T, Yahoo was created in the light of the web revolution as a search engine to start with but has blown to include many web features, especially since it partnered with SBC and AT&T. SBC purchased AT&T, changed it's name to AT&T, then went on to also purchase back at least some of the other "Baby Bells" to merge everything under it's name again. Still they have a major interest in Yahoo with their partnership in their web offerings. AT&T provides the underlying internet services and Yahoo provides the portal, search engine, and other features for AT&T's ISP's. Still this has to be a major blow for iPhone and Mac users that use AT&T, if that deal between Microsoft and Yahoo happens. What's going to stop Microsoft from making the features of AT&T's Yahoo service unavailable to Apples users? Will AT&T go elsewhere with all they have tied up into Yahoo including a recent "multi-year" deal for Yahoo to continue to provide it with services?:
