"an interesting spectacle" - let's keep it at that and stop the self-aggrandizing.

Interesting that the detail is left out about the help the winner got from his friend. Perhaps the article should have made more of the fact this guy may have stayed up all night, but if it hadn't been for his buddy compromising the contest, the no-sleep would have ultimately been for naught.
Why isn't this fact trumpeted enough? Does it really not matter the guy had assistance in meeting his goal?

screw that.

I want to know why it's so forgotten that they couldn't hack it UNTIL THE ORGANIZERS LOWERED THE BARRIERS, and granted access to the machine.

In related news, I'm going to be running a contest where you attempt to break into my house. if no one has succeeded by friday, I will GIVE YOU the KEY to the front door. Good luck!

It is a valid hack. Granted, a machine just sitting there is a much harder target, but the fact is, people go to websites all the time. The fact that a website can be created that can take unauthorized control of your system is a serious bug that can cause serious issues.

A supposed hack that has compromised nothing in OSX. OSX is still the safest operating system on the planet. Unless the people cheat, they could never get in. Every time someone says they have hacked into OSX it turns out later they cheated. Either by having an account on the system or physical access. There has never been a successful hack remotely from a networked computer elsewhere.

Linux/Windows contest would be a joke, it would be over in about an hour or less I'm sure. Linux would definitely last longer than Windows.

sorry, didn't mean to post here. There's a bug with the beta navigation and it went to the wrong thread.
