The lightsaber is impractical as a kitchen tool for several reasons.
1) The thickness of the blade is such that you will destroy much of what you cut.
2) The price of neutronium cutting boards is outrageous. They also tend to be too heavy for many kitchen counters.
3) Most importantly, the heat would burn whatever part of the food you didn't vaporize. Even on something like a steak, you would have a charred exterior and raw interior. It would completely destroy the character of the meat.
Even the heat of the lightsaber would be difficult to harness in culinary situations. The energy is fully contained in the blade - you couldn't just hold it over your food as a broiler-on-a-stick. You would have to touch the food. Meat would char. Bread would combust. Butter would half vaporize, half melt
This leaves only one kitchen application for which the lightsaber is suited - dealing with people who overanalyze. In such situations, it is most useful to..... slash Yeargh!
