Good morning everyone. I just got my first macintosh system one month ago.
And since then I have tried a lot to connect my Windows XP to Mac OS X.
I have no network at the moment. it's just 2 computers. a connection was already made. PCMaclan I heard is not compatible with Mac OS X. and XP.....
People suggests me to do windows share...allow Login from windows... and FTP share... in preference menu.... doing some manual DHCP.. (or something like it) and I did it all..... Viola... I found the thing call Samba 2.3 in windows Xp.. network... but I still couldn't access... Mac...
I tried so many things. but my attempt was futile. I looked again at windows connection indicator which said.. my IP address was...198.xx.xx.xxx.. I typed it in connect to in Mac.. Mac did finally connect to windows.... ............
Anyway my Mac cannot be accessed from Windows.
But is there any better or more convenient way to make a connection between two computer?
Sorry for my language.. I am Thai.
thank you everyone.

Did you try accessing the PC from the Mac? That is, selecting "Connect to Server" from the Go menu of the Finder?

As has already been recommended, try first setting up the Mac to connect to the PC. See the detailed instructions found at http://joelshoemaker...ilesharing.html .

Then move on to configure PC access to the Mac, following the instructions at http://www.info.appl...m/kbnum/n107083 .
Although you really don't need it, you heard wrong about PCMacLAN (www.miramarsys.com) - the latest version fully supports Windows XP, and fully supports file sharing with Macs running OS X.
