How did you set a keyboard command for "Back Up Now"?

In Keyboard & Mouse preferences, click on the + button to add a new keyboard shortcut. For Application, choose All Applications; for Menu Title, enter "Back Up Now" (no quotes); then enter your preferred shortcut.

Although, oddly enough, it's not working for me on my other Mac right now ;)

EDIT: The shortcut showed up a few minutes later; go figure.

Those of you that have gone Leopard, can you say unequivocally that now is the time for us Tiger laggards to finally upgrade to Leopard?
Has 10.5.2 finally fixed all the major bugs and made Leopard an undeniably superior upgrade to Tiger? I've got 3 Macs waiting to upgrade but everyone was saying to wait until 10.5.2.

It turns out that Linotype FontExplorer caused the conflict with all the Adobe products.
Turned it off -- al OK

>We're still here and they're still whining.

Do you need some extra buckets and rags to wipe your egg drenched faces? By the way, Apple will not make video iPods and Apple will never switch to Intel processors.

Another one of the criticisms of Leopard is that it does not remember view settings for individual folders. If you change one folder from icon to list view, for example, then every folder you open afterward will use list view. Apple then offered a very poor workaround for making folders stick to a particular view setting by editing the View Options for every single folder. It looks like this issue is still not resolved in 10.5.2. There is still no general preference to make the Finder remember individual view settings for each folder.

Boy talk about a screwed up UI. In listening to a vocal minority afraid of change Apple abandoned a unified GUI and now we have a completely unappealing part translucent, part glaring, eye squinting, needing sunglasses to see drop down circa 2002 menus.
Great job Apple. Next time you decided to listen to a bunch of whiners at least put translucent sliders on the entire GUI or change everything. Not a couple of things.
In the last few months there has been much written on how to get rid of the translucency. It is unfortunate that none of these nut cases will figure out how to bring it back to the vast majority that understood the direction Apple was taking it user interface.
Either that or not change anything and distract everybody by just lowering the price of the iPhone.

However, a nice upgrade on the "View Content As" changes on stacks. That should have been there from the start. Definitely needed.

I'm still amazed you can't QuickLook from Stacks or the List view in the Dock.
It would seem to me to be the perfect marriage.
Besides hovering over an icon and pressing space bar they could let you hold down the Option key and click on the file or they could even include an option to make QuickLook the default view from Stacks.
I see Stacks as a way to quickly find and look at files which also seems like part of the point of QuickLook. So get this done yesterday Apple.

Also going back to list view is fairly painful on the dock. I tried it quick and immediately went back to Stacks. I like to see the thumbnails of the photos I've grabbed from email and the nice colorful icons and I like the size of the icons. Much more readable. (Fan view sucks tho. It's not very clear.)
The other complaint I have about Stacks is when using it with a magnified Dock. I wish the Grid display was stable once you clicked on the Stack instead of it shifting when moving the cursor from the magnified dock to Stack. It's fairly minor, but annoying.
Anyway I got used to most of the initial Leopard complaints. I think alot of people do whine just because they aren't used to the changes. I was doing some of that too, but eh it tends to grow on you or at least it did for me.

I would hardly call the return of folder lists to the dock an improvement over the 10.4 implementation. Previously in 10.4 symbolic links were followed in the traversal, however, in 10.5.2 with Stacks you cannot go any further when you reach a linked folder. I was also seriously hoping they would introduce some type of drag-and-drop functionality to the stacks.

The 10.5.2 install also installs "Remote Install Mac OS X" in the utilities folder

After installing 10.5.2, my menu bar is now no longer transparent, but I do not have the Translucent Menu Bar checkbox in my Desktop & Screen Saver preference pane. Anyone else see this?

Nope. Mine is translucent and I see the checkbox. I think the checkbox should be under 'Apperance' though. :)
I miss the translucent effect of the menus actually. I quite got used to it and the drab look is actually easier on the eyes now than the bright white.

This is a very solid update. I wasn't experiencing any noticable bugs in the system.

I was waiting for this update to use TimeMachine. Though I configured it last night in hopes the update was coming soon and walla - there it was. :-)

I'm looking forward to the next update. Hopefully we'll get a few new features in 10.5.3. I hear Safari 3.1 is coming along well. Mail could use a few bells and whistles such as a little integration with iCal. iChat needs to expand its universe with MSN and Yahoo. ;-)

aaargh. Updated to 10.5.2 and Finder no longer works and no icons left on my desktop. Not much of an update methinks.

Yes, folder memory. I thought they would improve it with this update. Hopefully in 10.5.3.
