One has to wonder what it is these folks at the Macintosh Business Unit are doing all the time. I mean there is no Internet Explorer to work on, no Windows Media Player, no Messenger (to speak of), no Windows Remote Desktop, etc. What exactly do they spend their time on?

It's taken them 4 years to get to this point with Office?! Now I understand every major software version upgrade has its initial hiccups. Apple is notorious for releasing OS version upgrades only to release an update within weeks to fix launch bugs. But still, the MBU has not finished the converters for OOXML? WTF?! Whose working there...3 chimps and a koala?

And to top it all off, Office 2008 is a major disappointment with all the "step backwards" made to its features. Office 2004 looks like a damn good product in comparison! It's like these guys are purposely wanting Mac users to not buy Office 2008 so as to close down the whole Microsoft commitment issue (or so the conspiracy theory goes).

At this point, even the most supportive of MBU within the Mac community have to be loathing Microsoft and its uncanny ability to really plss us off!!

@ garyi

Everyone knows that higher version numbers of all software coming from MS takes longer to do anything (especially their OS). It must be some kind of rule they have that all programmers must abide by.

Why I am not surprised. If you need Office 2007 file format support now, or even if you don't, I would recommend checking out the open source NeoOffice. They're up to version 2.2.2 Patch 11, and it keeps getting better all the time.
