I've been trying to access various websites, specifically IRS.gov and I keep getting messages saying that I need to have a firewall.
What is a firewall, how do I get one on my MBP and how much are they? Also how would I go about adjusting the settings on my MBP to allow a firewall?
I'm anxious to check the status of my tax refund so any help is much welcome.
Thanks to all who can help.

Kyle, the IRS website is a tad hostile to Safari, it that's what you're using.
And the message I get is "unable to establish a secure connection."
I can't imagine why your machine needs a firewall. Or are you a server?
However, NetScape 9 (for us old-timers) and FireFox 2 work fine.

Just to explain this part, OS X already comes with a pretty good firewall. Mac Help can tell you all about it.
