iiMovie - Sound Skips out and in on DVD

I have G4 Macintosh with and 80 GB hard drive, currently there is 40 GB of hard drive space free, I am trying to make a DVD movie which is just over an hour long. I used iMovie (version10.1.2) to edit the movie.
The sound in the iMovie sounds fine when I play it from start to finish. After exporting it to iDvd and when I play it back the sound is ok in spots and is missing or gone in other. This seems to happen the most at point where I have used iMovie to add sound / music, the music is imported in the file format (aif). I first got the music from a CD-rom then used iTunes to convert the music to the aif format and then the music was imported into iMovie and placed in the correct location in the movie.
If any one has a suggestion I would be very grateful for any help. Thanks!

I had the same problem. To fix it I used iTunes to convert the music to MP3 format then used iMovie to import it. Aiff files are large MP3 files are much smaller. Less work in renderring.
