I'm running seven of these now on my jailbroken iPhone (including Vladimir Kofman's excellent converter app and, despite what other commenters said, a spirit level and to do app). What I'm most interested in seeing are the following:
- True GPS (rumor has it that this is already in development)
- Twitter (with the option for live SMS-style updating)
- Quicken (or at the very least a good budgeting app)
- Netflix (Brent Jensen is off to a good start with iFlix)
- Geocaching (particularly a port of BeeLineGPS with auto-cache updates)
- Delicious Library
- eBay
I also hope to see a lot of creative and unique third party apps that take advantage of what the iPhone is designed to be rather than trying to turn it into a miniature tablet computer. The Palm platform kicked Microsoft's butt early on for this exact reason before Palm dropped the ball.

Ummm, expected reply from OmniGroup: Omnifocus already syncs with iCal, and if you have an urgent need to send a new event to it, you can do so via email from the iPhone.

I wouldn't hold my breath....

Actually, the expected response from OmniGroup is that they pretty much all have iPhones and can't wait for the SDK to be able to develop a better solution than the one they are forced to use for OmniFocus at the moment.

Yes, we're listening! We're working on a mobile version of OmniFocus for the iPhone which will synchronize with the desktop version. (We don't have the SDK yet, so we've been working on things that don't require the SDK: designing the mobile interface, adding synchronization support to the desktop app, and so on.)

And an alarm that doesn't go "plink" and lasts only a second.

Photo editing on the iPhone??? For what purpose? Surely you jest! With all due respect, that's one of the silliest things I've ever heard!

How about:

1. Being able to search your address book, or typing the first few characters of the name or number and it gives you options to choose from as you type.

2. When texting or typing why can't the screen be placed in a landscape mode. This would make the keyboard bigger and much easier to type.

Some of these 25 would be great, but what I miss most from my move from my treo 680 is sending pics in SMS and PasswordsPlus from Dataviz. Additionally I think there should be video recording and an address book from the home screen with a spotlight option instead of just scrolling.

A "digital level" but no To Do/Task application?

I don't know what to tell you. It was in the last version of this list that I saw... a robust to-do/task manager is a MUST for the iPhone.

#11 - sending photos to Flickr via email works beautifully.

The photos sent to Flickr via e-mail are downrezzed, not full quality, which is... a problem. If you're on a speedy enough network.

As the blurb says, for uploading to a .Mac Web Gallery or emailing to friends. Simple eyedropper tool for finding white point and changing tone of pictures, a mode for turning color images to black and white, simple crop tool. Useful, methinks.

What about voice dialing? Didn't see that one.

As Rob's pointed out a couple of times, we're talking possible third-party apps rather than changes that could/should be made to system-level functions.

All of the above apps mentioned are nice, but there is one key app missing! Wouldn't be nice to be able to print directly from your iPhone! Maybe this is already available, but I'm not aware of it. Just a thought!
