My IMac has reciently started shutting down while in a program, on the internet or going from one program to another. It appears there is no specific time interval. Sometimes its a few minutes or it could be an hour or more. The good news is it has always started again with no problem. (So far.) I'm running Leopard 10.5. I can't upgrade it because a few weeks ago I found that I was unable to open Safari, ITunes, or any software upgrades because they couldn't connect to the internet. A check of the network indicated everything was running OK. I am able to connect to the network with Firefox.

Any thoughts?

I have a solution to one of your problems, go to this link in Firefox...

http://www.apple.com...omboupdate.html

You can download an updater for 10.5.2 there.

Thanks for the tip. I was able to download the update and install it. However, I am not

able to access software updates via the software update function. I receive this message

Software Update can’t connect to the update server. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet, then try again.

I get this message for safari:

Safari can’t open the page “http://livepage.apple.com/” because it could not connect to the server “livepage.apple.com”.

I get this message for ITunes:

ITunes could not connect to ITunes store. The network connection was refused.

The shutdown problem may have been a faulty power strip. It has been running for a while with no problems..........
