"However looking at most software licenses you buy a single use license for a single computer and if you want more then pay again for each computer you use it on."
You need look no farther than Apple itself for a different model with their family pack licensing.

Yes the apps work on the iPod Touch.
But where did you get the $20 from?
As previously reported:
About the nominal fee for touch. "The way we account for the iPhone is with subscription accounting, so we take the revenue over two years. The way that we account for iPods, is more normal accounting. And so because of that, we have to charge a nominal fee, but I don't see that changing. We'll set it when we release the software in June. But we don't look at this as a profit opportunity."

Great article. However, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that it's my personal opinion that using "WTF" in a public article like this is not very professional.
I knew it was pushing the boundaries (and honestly I'm not sure which one of us wrote it), but it felt kind of funny for the last question of the piece. And can't you just see a cranky Windows developer typing it? ;-)

Ia??m a Windows developer and really, really want in on this sweet iPhone action, yet the iPhone developer tools run only on Intel Macs running Leopard. WTF?
I'd feel sorry for you, but I have three PowerPC Macs and I have to get my hands on an Intel-based one! And, by the way, how much effort did Microsoft make to provide a Mac version of Visual Studio?
Also, this is Cocoa in Objective-C. Even though the syntax looks awkward at first, I think ObjC is the best OO language I've worked with (those include C, Java, C#, VB.NET). You Windows folks probably have no idea what ObjC is, so with the new frameworks, new language and new device, you might as well get the new computer. Two words for Cocoa noobs: Aaron Hillegass.
Also, I don't know whether the iPod touch upgrade "fee" will be $20 or not. Since the upgrade will enable the user to give Apple mo' money by buying apps, I can see them selling the upgrade for a much more nominal fee (like $1.99).

How does one BACK UP an iPhone? Now we're dealing with apps you pay to obtain, and apps that store data to the iPhone's database -- surely there has to be a way to back this up, right? But I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere.
I expect much reduced need for backups. For one, App Store on the iPhone and your Mac and at Apple knows which apps you had. Trivially easy factory restores and then app reloads. For another, data seems to go into SQLite, not into files. Sync the DB and you're good. The iPhone and iPod Touch encapsulate a lot of modern technology which should have made it to the desktop, but never did because of historic baggage. In that vein, quit asking for MS Office and iWork for iPhone everyone.

My question exactly and I can't seem to be able to get an answer.
Will push email work with Leopard server, Will OTA calendar sync work with Leopard iCal server.
I would think if they can make it work with exchange, they could and should make it work with their own server platform. I would hope they support us after all the support we have given them.
