I have to admit that this utility has an interesting set of features, but you don?t really need it for the purpose they advertise. I only use my laptop?s speakers in emergency cases ? they?re no good for anything else anyway. So my laptop ? a MacBook Pro ? as well as any other MacBook and probably some earlier laptops remember two distinct volume settings. One setting is used when you?re using the built-in speakers and the other is used when you have something plugged in. Thus, I simply need to keep the volume muted for the internal speakers and when I unplug my headphones or desktop speakers my laptop goes mute. Of course, this doesn?t pause iTunes, but that?s never fatal for me.

I'm thinking that if there's a need for this, the speakers on other people's macbooks must be a lot better than mine. I keep it set at maximum volume, and it's not loud enough to share audio with another person (such as a student in my relatively quiet piano studio.). How many times have I been seen in public holding the macbook up to my ear trying to listen to something audio? Now, THAT'S embarrassing.
