I saw the headline and was ready to be impressed. Here I thought they'd let you design amps on your main machine, or something of that nature, and then port them to this little piece of hardware. Maybe even utilizing of Garageband or Logic to do so. Instead, they took the old-school approach of one-piece-of-hardware-per-sound. Having invested in the software side of guitar sound/recording/performance, I couldn't condone going back to this more expensive, lest customizable, analog method. Sounds useful for to someone with the old-school mindset, though.

I've got one on the way and am very interested in the tone it will produce. There are others on the market, but I haven't been all that impressed with the sound so far. If this really does have the Vox sound, I think it will be worth it.

This sounds like a good product for jammers, but it would have been so much better if instead of 3 separate products, VOX could have put all 3 in the unit and provided a 3 position slider and charged just a little more for it. It's a good idea but just not functional enough to have to buy 3 different units to vary the sound. Good idea, bad implementation.

I wonder if the circuitry would allow for that. To be honest, I'm not sure if I would like the "metal" Vox, but I know I would like the AC30. There's something to be said for focusing on something and making it the best -- if that means three separate small devices, that might be better than one bigger device. Having said that, I haven't played with one yet, so who knows.

If this sounds as good as the ToneLab the I might actually consider trying it for my band's guitarist.

I went to the VOX amPlug page and listened to various sound samples, and they actually sounded very good. Quite amazingly good actually. My only complaint is that it seems silly to me that VOX would make 3 different items instead of bundling them into one device, which would seem to be rather easy by including all 3 chips that could be switched between--even if the unit had to be a bit bigger.
When I play electric I want a choice of sounds since I don't play the same way or want to sound the same for everything I play.

I agree with you there. I play so many different styles, it's nice to have some variety in amp sounds. If anyone gets one before me, let me know how it sounds.

This may be a cool product, but it is in no way revolutionary, there are other products that have done the same thing.
