Several phones can be hooked into the Cradelpoint routers via USB cable and server as the Internet connection that can then be shared by several users via wi-fi. I believe the Treo is compatible. Check their site.

For the limited times that I use it, it is not worth it. With most hotels now offering Internet service, I tend to just use the hotel's connection rather than my Treo. Besides, I believe that Sprint has gotten better at knowing when you use it in tethered mode (I have used PDANet with Windoze, which traditional made it so that Sprint just thought you were using the Treo so you did not get billed at some rate per kB). To date, I have not used it enough for Sprint to charge me per kB when using it...and I don't see any reason to use it more.

In the end my cable modem service works just fine for me. I don't travel enough to warrant also getting mobile broadband service. If I ever switch to satelite for TV (which is becoming more and more likely since Comcast is taking their sweet ol' time getting HDTV in my area), then I might look to other options as my cable modem bill will increase by $15 a month without cable TV.

Regardless, thanks for the information!
