As much as I'm sure we've all been dying for HTML 5 video and audio tags and CSS animation, how about a per-site popup blocker like the one Firefox has had for the past few years? Maybe in 4.0 I guess. Fingers crossed

Running it now. The funny thing it required a restart. Why?

Looks most promising. Apple appears to have made a change in the way the new Safari defines and displays its history. Not sure it's a change for the better, but I do see a significant performance improvement and so far the rendering and other behaviors are spot on.

Oh, I should add I'm test driving Safari on Windows XP at this point. I look forward to running it on the Mac later this evening.

Safari broke 1Password and won't let it install its button on the toolbar!

It's too bad they aren't using the latest version of WebKit. This new Safari only hits 75/100 on the Acid3 test where the latest seed of WebKit hits 90/100. Still, that means there's hope for the future!

My first post seems to have not made it.
Now, installing Safari 3.1 on two Mac Pros, it has removed the button from 1Password in the toolbar and won't allow it to be re-installed. What's going on? I might have to switch to Omniweb!

Who REALLY believes that Safari can handle Java? I mean, really. Top say that it does so, SIX times faster is just not true. They said it was the faster browser on earth at 3.0. And it wasn't. To make a sweeping statement as if it always has been and still is now, just feels like I'm once again being setup for a major let down.

Well in my experience Safari is faster than IE, Opera or Firefox and it's definitely more standards compliant.

Where are you getting your data on it not being so? I don't have a speed-testing suite to work with.

I have already discovered a bug that makes Safari 3.1 unusable on a very popular Web site where I used to be able to use Safari. Good thing I have Firefox installed, which works just fine on this particular site. I need to learn to stop immediately installing updates from Apple. They are becoming as problematic as Windows updates. Because of this update I will now be required to use Firefox for one Web site I use daily. Thanks again Apple!

thanks for the heads up, i updated my work computer (which doesn't have 1password) but i won't update my home computer (which has 1password) until there's an update for it. i just checked 1password's site and apparently 1password works on powerpc's with safari 3.1 but not on intel's with safari 3.1:

on a side note, it's funny that you said your first post may have not made it. these new forums STINK. only about half of the posts i make are ever posted, the ones that don't just seem to disappear. macworld, fix your discussion boards!
