REM has a smart phone? I'd love to have What's the Frequency Kenneth as a ringtone!

The Dell Axim X51v (the last Axim line prodiced) was and still is an excellent WM5 device. The Axim community was gravely upset when Dell decided to stop production. Thanks to sites like XDA-Developers we now have Windows Mobile 6 on it.

Dell's entire Axim line was never under powered or skimpy and that should hold true for new PDA ventures. I agree that WM devices have to improve to catch the iPhone. Simply discounting it because its WM or made by Dell is an unjust slight.

The comments are perfectly just. It doesn't matter how much power a device has if it isn't wanted. Do you think the Axim and Dell DJ were axed arbitrarily? No, it's because there was nothing compelling about them to make enough people want to buy them. We are predicting the same fate of the Dell smartphone. What is going to make this compelling over the iPhone, and over all of the other Windows smartphones out there?

While true, Windows Mobile may not be the most amazing OS, it certainly has a lot more functionality than the iPhone. I'm not a big pro-PC fan (Believe me, I'm not) but I'm getting very tired of you MAC fans who think Apple is the best etc.

iPhone is NOT the best. It is very aesthetically pleasing and stylish, but lacks a lot of features such as 3G and has several design flaws such as the recessed 3.5mm jack. But I must admit, iPhone is one hell of a neat gadget... It is far from being the best. Take a look at HTC's smartphones or the REM Blackberries. Have you ever used one before? (I'm assuming you haven't).

You sir, are an idiot.

Given that you said MAC and not Mac, I have to wonder about you not being a pro-PC fan. Maybe you are, maybe not, it doesn't matter. But you simply don't get it. A device is more than its feature list. You seem to be only able to judge a product based on the number of features it has. Style, and usability go a long way - this is why the iPhone is a success. The millions of iPhone owners simply don't care that it isn't 3G and why should they? It already works well, has a nice UI, and looks good.

Do you think the Motorola RAZR is successful because of its feature set? Do you think a Toyota Corolla is a successful car because of its feature set?

You can make a smartphone with all the features possible, but if nobody likes it, it's going to fail. Just like the Dell Smartphone. What's going to make people want it more than an iPhone, Blackberry, or any other Windows smartphone?

I'm not a big PC fan, nor do I have to have the latest and greatest from Apple (except my computer), that's right, never owned an iPod, in fact berated Apple, a computer company, for diverting it's attention from it's hardware / software platform, but as a business profit making standpoint, glad I'm not Apple's visionary CEO. Never purchased any song from iTunes, never owned a laptop, Apple or otherwise, and have not rushed out to purchase an iPhone. That being said, I'm very tired of people tired of MAC fans who think Apple is the best, etc. because it seems that when Apple introduces a product that becomes the latest and greatest, that MAC fans have to deal with the flood of innovationless companies rushing to beat the band to get their "me too" product out the door, as in the original 'egg shape' iMac copied, then when Apple introduced 'colors' from the beige and blacks of the world, they were copied there, then Apple's latest iMac (white and now black and silver) being copied by all in ones like Dell's XPS1 computer, then the eco system of the mp3 player (not an Apple original idea by no means), iTunes software and the ITMS, soon followed by others, ie. MS Zune and "The Social", and now the iPhone. Did Apple invent the cell phone - No, nor it's ability to hold music, buy music, etc. Does it have all the bells and whistles, of course not. If it had everything, why make a second generation product. It's claim to fame is purely "touch based", ease of use and a web browser that allows you to see the web as it was meant to be seen. Now 'Johnny Come Latelies' are all touting their phones with "touch" capabilities, new software, etc. what ever was their claim to fame except to copy Apple's hit product and ride Apple's coattails! Where is the innovation from the PC side regarding a hardware/software product that became the latest and greatest must have item??? I'm waiting! Perhaps if the "other side" showed such innovation that would make Apple envious enough to rush out and copy then you might have proper concerns to gripe. As I personally see it regarding your "getting very tired of you MAC fans who think Apple is the best", you don't have a leg to stand on!
