Animated Desktop in Jaguar

I've read somewhere that you could use a screen saver for your desktop in Jaguar. I haven't had any luck finding anything else about it. Anyone know how to do it?

By default, I don't think Jaguar has that feature. Maybe a third party software.

Maybe you mean the built in slide show desktop. Jaguar has the ability to play a slideshow as your desktop through a pictures folder. Just go to system preferences>desktop

At the very bottom you can check "change picture" and you can choose how often you would like the desktop pic to change. Also, choose the folder where all your pics are stored.

I don't know if this is what you are talking about, but it's similar

There's a few out there. Type "desktop screen saver" in at versiontracker.com.

You'll need to use the Terminal, but yes, you can do it without 3rd-party software:

Of course, the whole point of the Mac is so you can do it without the Terminal. And for free, since the products are out there.
