17" PB shipping soon?

I was surfing around on the apple.com message boards and found this post. Hope you like it.

Just received an E-Mail from Apple stating that my Credit Card was not being approved. I realized that our Corporate card number changed about a month ago due to new cards being issued. I forgot to contact Apple to let them know this. Anyway, they just took the new info and got an approval while I waited on the phone.

I asked if this ment they were actually READY to ship and she said that they were told to get the approval so it should ship in they VERY near future, most likely the next few days. Those were her words. Just hope she has some clue as to the reality of the subject.

IT MAY ALMOST BE TIME EVERYONE!!!

I know it doesn't confirm a shipping date in the near future, as we've seen from the "shipdate saga" that sale people are usually grossly uninformed. Having said that, the act of confirming a credit card number is a VERY good sign that things are happening. What do you guys think?

I think everyone knows what I think from the 'saga', but I'll repeat it anyway.

It would sure be cool if that was the case. That would probably be early next week, and it would barely be within the '10 weeks' deadline. I just hope apple starts servicing the retailers soon, as I'm ready and waiting for my unit from MacMall, who tells me everything from 'within a matter of days' to 'April 15'.

I sure do wish this was over.

I know the guy that posted that (as a fellow poster that I have interacted with previously) and saw his post earlier. I have actually been waiting for the "advanced notice" of the credit card company calling me to ask for verificatioin, as they did when I ordered my stack of DVD-R's on the day I ordered my 17". Yeah, the DVD-R's that have been collecting dust for over two months.

The reason apparently is that the 15"4 and the 17" suffer from the same flaws

I wouldnt trust any of those rumor sites for information, every week they seem to make predictions that are wrong!

The Apple Powerbook store guy says they will definitely, I say DEFINITELY have them in the 19th of May. He will contact me as soon as he gets them.
Cool, cause by that time hopefully some of you guys can have some preliminary reviews at least of the 17" fit and finish, structural lid integrity, etc,
before I go running off to pick one up off the shelf.

macnn is NOT a rumor site and more reports of tracking numbers from actual customers are being reported there. Believe it. It's real.

FYI, I received my tracking number! I checked my order status on the Apple Store casually this morning on my secondary Macintosh....and saw "Shipped" where it had said "Open" for oh so long. Tracking number listed and everything. My jaw opened WIDE.

I then ran downstairs to my primary Mac to check for the email confirmation. It was there! The computer is at the airport in Taiwan. I have overnight shipping, so I'll expect to receive it Monday. I ordered the stock configuration directly from Apple within an hour after the keynote on 1/7.

Doesn't it suck that they ship it overnight on Saturday? One more day of torture waiting for it. Or then again, one full day to prepare your life for it!

Once folks start getting them, and when it appears that they are OK, I will be ordering one-which will be my first Mac.

Regarding Saturday and "overnight", no big deal, cause it's gotta go through Alaska probably and clear customs. At that point I think the "overnight" kicks in. Think of Sunday as the computer's travel day.

I doubt that you will get it before Wednesday. It will take a while to clear customs.

My amazon order has gone from 'pre-order' status to 'shipping in 2-3 days'. I am betting on a Monday shipdate, with overnight delivery.
