How fast Office v.X on a 17" Albook?

I had a 800 mhz 15" Tibook at work (since I couldn't stand the corporate pc laptop I was assigned). Although I got no support from IT to make it work with our systems, they finally allowed me to use it to connect to Lotus Notes and Corp Time (although I had to buy the licenses myself and configure them myself). Everyone at work recognized the superiority of the Tibook not only in looks but in performance for the specific tasks of a traditional marketing job (lots of video and art work). However, when it came to Office v.x and specifically excel and powerpoint, my Tibook would just bite the dust in terms of speed. Big spreadsheets would take a long time to appear and cell moves would lag behind several seconds. Powerpoint was even worse; a 100+ slide presentation would just be too slow to be useful. Then I sold the Tibook to buy a 17 " Albook and I had to use my PC laptop that was in the drawer. Excel and powerpoint where so fast that I was frustrated....this is a 800 Mhz Pentium 3 HP with 384 MB. My Ti book had 1 GB Ram 800 MHz and Jaguar.
I hate PCs. I miss my Mac. I have just ordered my 17" Albook. But I'm not looking forward to a slow Office v.X experience.
Has anyone compared the speed of office in a 17 versus a 15.
Are there any tricks to speed office?

Unfortunately, the speed of Office on your Mac has little to do with your processor. MS Office, like most MS products for the Mac, is extremely slow and tedious to use. Even routine tasks like cutting and pasting are much slower than on the PC. You could buy a Dual Processor 1.42 and Office would probably still run slower than it does on a two year old PC laptop. Simply put, even though MS products on the Mac look very nice, they tend to lag considerably behind their PC brethren in terms of speed. I would switch to a new Office suite in a heartbeat if something comparable to MS Office (in terms of functionality and compatibility) were availible on the Mac. There are rumors that Apple may be releasing an updated Appleworks designed to end the MS Office stranglehold on the Mac business user. If it is compatible with MS document standards, or has effective converters, I'll be the first in line to buy this product.
