Proof that the 970 and 64-bit Panther are coming !

Check out Apple's WWDC schedule. Everyday except for Monday, there are gaps in the layout saying "To Be Annouced" and there are a lot. Furthermore, there are only 8 confirmed hardware sessions. 8 ! And there is only 1 session on Darwin.

So i'm sure that they will be filled by the 970 and the 64-bit Panther.

Changing from the rose-colored glasses to the solid black pessimists' lens, I see that only eight of 45 sessions, or 18%, are listed as "to be announced." Speaking in the pessimists' tongue, I would then add "Don't you think that something as major as Panther in 64bit and an entirely new CPU architecture would merit more than 18% of the WWDC schedule?"

:-)

Of course, I do believe that both 64bit and the 970s are coming, I just have no idea when, and I think I'll just hold my guesses until after the WWDC! :-)

Heh, missed the rest of the week ;-). Just added it all up; 14% of the sessions are "TBA." I'm not doubting that they're announcing something, just playing numbers games.

More than likely, you're completely correct ... we can only hope!

WWDC is still two months away. It's entirely possible that they haven't finalized the details on all the sessions yet and they don't want people signing up for one and then have it not happen. I think people would be pretty ticked if they signed up for a session on "The Finer Details of UNIX on OS X" only to find out that it was changed to "How Convince Windows Users to Switch" or worse yet "Underwater Basket Weaving" when they weren't looking. I doubt it means anything. Now, if there were that many TBA sessions the week before WWDC it would be different.

What would be nice is if Apple ever had a major event in Miami, FL... or maybe just Florida in general so that I could easily attend. I guess I'll have to move to either Los Angeles or New York once I graduate...
