Any external DVD RW drives compatible with iDVD?
Hi, I'm looking for an external DVD RW drive that is compatible with iDVD. IS there any you can recommend? Thanks!

No such thing. You must have an internal drive for iDVD.

... and that is all there is to it, except
idvd isnt all there is to use!
dvd studio pro 2 - is only 100mb and a few hundred bucks away
and supports external burners...
i think the new version is suppost to be more 'idvd like' .. and can probably
open idvd projects...
so all isnt lost

I belive OWC made a hack to allow idvd to notice external dvd burners. look on e-bay for it.

Toast 6 can now author DVDs to external drives as well, but you won't get all the bells and whistles that you do with iDVD.

Jon,
Does Toast handle the mpg2 conversion from miniDV or Quicktime? Or do you need to have another app put together the VOB and stuff like that?

Toast comes with an MPEG-2 encoder...it will encode any video file QuickTime can understand.
