Tinkertool 3.0!

get it here. Downloading it right now! Remeber the people who were complaining about all the eye-candy in os-x, well it seems with this utility you can turn it off.

Re: Tinkertool 3.0!
Does it help to remove the .gz so that the file name ends in dmg? Just double click the file.

Re: Tinkertool 3.0!
Stuffit removes the gzipping just fine for me. What version of stuffit have you got?

Re: Tinkertool 3.0!
Try redownloading. Erase the copy you have now, empty your cache, and then try downloading again. Stuffit should be able to open gzip files easily.

You could try moving up to 8.

Re: Tinkertool 3.0!
That's not the problem though Typhoon. I have 7.0.3 on my laptop and it expanded fine. I'd bet the farm on him having a corrupt download.

Re: Tinkertool 3.0!
isn't gZip a Unix compression format anyway ? As in, shouldn't OS X be able to extract it's files by itself ?

Re: Tinkertool 3.0!
It can, but you either need to use a command line utility or download something like OpenUp.

Re: Tinkertool 3.0!
Besides, if StuffIt couldn't open it, then I doubt that the Unix utility would work either. The file was corrupt. So, since StuffIt Expander comes with OS X, why mess with the command line?

Oh that's right, some of you cyber geeks just like to show off.

Yes, enter "gunzip thefile" in Terminal.
