Can't add words to Appleworks dictionary

I know there's a post or article somewhere, but I can't find it.
When I spell check a document and Spellcheck runs across a word that it doesn't recognize I used to be able to hit the "Learn " button & add the word to my dictionary. But, Since reinstalling Appleworks I can't add words. I know I'm not at the 2883 word limit, because the reinstall wiped out my previous dictionary & replaced it with the stock one.

Any Ideas?

You may have lost your link to the user dictionary. Under Edit->Writing Tools select "Select Dictionary". That should open a window which then allows you to select User Dictionary and then the Choose button. It should open directly in the Appleworks application/Appleworks Essentials/Dictionaries folder. Your user dictionary will be there or you may have to create a new one. If you deleted your Appleworks folder in order to reinstall it, you probably lost it.
