Mac Sound Control Panel

Hello, out there in MAC world... (sorry I know that was bad)... I am puzzled by my G4 system software. Lately, I have had a serious breakdown of the OS... (I am still in caveman days still running OS 9.2.2) ... and I had backed things up and got all my software and everything working. Except my Sound control panel. No matter how many times I reinstall OS 9.2.2, it keeps saying that an upgrade for the Sound control panel is needed for this new OS (I started with a OS 9.1 install and upgraded from there). Anybody got any ideas??? Thanks!

John,

I'm no OS9.x.x expert due to jumpin' from OS8.6->OSX.x, but did you intall your OS9.2.2 in the proper Order ? And a little more info might help. Did you reformat your HD and do a Clean Install?

Re: Mac Sound Control Panel
I run 9.2.2 on my PM G4 1.25GHz DP.

Needed are:
Control Panels:Sound 8.5.8

If you are using this version, before you do a CLEAN INSTALL of 9.2.2, try deleting any preference file (System Folder:Preferences) in your Preferences folder that might in any conceivable way pertain to your sound problem. And I mean BE CREATIVE when deleting.

Then restart. If warning window does not occur, recreate your preferences.

If problem continues, then do your clean install.

Re: Mac Sound Control Panel
Before I switched from 9.2.2, I was using Sound control panel 8.5.6 on my Digital Audio G4, and a Yamaha 3 speaker self powered system run through USB.

The only problem I had was that one of the channels would cut out unless I kept the control panel volume up most of the way. Not a problem, though, I just turned down the speakers own volume control.

The channel dropping doesnt happen with OS 10.
