Re: Switching and TOTALLY nervous
Geez, you're nervous about switching? At least you're starting at 10.3, when I switched OS X was at 10.1.3 (ok not quite beta). Not only that, I started using my 667 TiPB for work in a windows only world (absolutly no mac heads at all), across multiple sites (about seven or eight different networks), where I needed lotus notes, IBM iSeries 5250 green screen emulation, and other apps .... that's called sticking your neck out.
There were only two problems I faced at the time,
1. Having to run a legacy windows application where there was no equivalent Mac application, solution Virtual PC (a bit slow but OK).
2. Heavy need to integrate into the client network (both technical and application e.g. MS Office), solution eventually was Office even though I tried alternatives at the time.
Other than that I never looked back.
I too come from a DOS/Windows build your own machine environment, and to be quite frank I don't think people in the windows world value their time much! I got sick of the maintenance in the end, I never do any maintenance on my PB apart from periodical updates through the system update feature (maybe I'm just lucky).
I would rate these forums as one of the best when looking to get info on how to's etc. Good luck and hope you enjoy the ride as much as I have so far.
Cheers
Nick.
