Sidebar icons for folders change to generic?

OS 10.3.4 Sidebar icons for twp folders of documents will change to generic on occasion. This does not happen with other document folders I have in the sidebar. Yet, if I do a get info on the two folders, the assigned icon comes up in the get info window, but not in the Sidebar. Similarly, if I go directly to the documents folder, the right icon is there. I can pull the folder from the sidebar and then drag the original back into the sidebar and the right icon will be there, but some days later, it disappears. Suggestions, please? Respectfully, Norm

I'm not sure if this applies to your situation, but I was having a problem under 10.3.9 where a second desktop icon would always show up in the sidebar whenever I tried to save anything. I found the following info on macosxhints.com that fixed my problem. Good Luck :)

"To fix the problem, simply delete the preferences file named com.apple.sidebarlists.plist, found in your user's Library/Preferences folder."
