flow in text into quark 6.1 from a word document

we have a guy who keys in text in word 98 document using particular headers with certain fonts. He uses a IMac and then saves the document as a standard word file. We then import the document in quark 6.1 (OSX 10.3.3) but as we get text not all the word document flows in? We have saved the same word document in two parts and still not all the text flows in? If I flow the same text into quark 5 on my Mac G5 (OS9.2) the word document is complete?? Any ideas??

Could be a compatibility issue between different versions. Office 98 is classic, so is Quark 5. Quark 6 isn't, so that may be an issue. When I have had problems similar to that in the past, I would open the text file in Word, copy it all, and paste it into the Quark layout. Unless there are styles that are being used in the Word document, this should run without a hiccup.

I have been working with 6 for nearly a year now--and don't recall having an issue like this. You may also ask to have the files saved as text-only (.txt). That should take care of it...

don't really know about version 6 still using 4.11 but maybe you need to update the msword filter in the extensions i think, just a guess but as said above if you don't need the styles just get him to save as a .txt file!!

that'll be the xtensions in your quark folder btw not the system
