Importing Inventory Records from MYOB-need advice

I looked around the Intuit site in the marketing info. to try and find an answer to this question....couldn't find anything there. Thanks in advance for anyone who might have the answer to this: I'm taking a hard look at converting from MYOB to QB6 as my new accountant is using QB on WinDoze, and it seems like it might be easier for me to switch than for her to (she has other clients on Win). Also, I have some ease-of-use issues with MYOB, that I think QB will be a better solution.

Soooo, my biggest issue will be getting the inventory somehow imported to QB6. There's a lot of records in my Inventory file, (it's a wholesale business) and I don't really want to have to re-key it all back into QB6. Is there a way to import data into QB from a CSV or excel file? I can get it from MYOB to a CSV file no problem, but can it be imported to QB6? The next lower issue is importing customer info, but re-keying that wouldn't be as big a deal. Getting the other info set up, like the GL balances would not be a problem if that had to go manually.

Thanks for any info. or advice.

Did you come up with a way to convert from MYOB to QB6? Heck I'm even ready to convert from MYOB back to QB4 in Classic Mode at this point.

Anyone know of a way to convert MYOB t0 QB6?

FYI..your accountant can get a copy of MYOB Version12 (to match MYOB 3 on Mac) to read your file for free. I am probably the ONLY account out of 900 using MYOB so I'd like to make his life easier too by converting back to QB now that we have an Intuit comittment again.

It all comes down to how do you import transactions into quickbooks pro 6 for the mac? I am going to try a friends version of quickbooks for Windoz as he says he can import transactions in that version. Perhaps I (or you with myob) can export my data to a .qif and send it to the windoz world and import it into the evil empire version and then convert that win version to the mac version. Wouldn't it be simpler if one of the quicken support people would just tell us how to import data? It has to be possible as the Aatrix payroll data gets in there somehow.

I cannot address this specific issue however it is impossible to import time tracking info (which is very simple, flat-file type of info.) My business partner (a database pro and programmer) looked deep into the bowels of QBPro and said there is too much proprietary code in there - just the way the peecee world works. They want to guard things rather obsessively and make it so dumbed down at the same time - ends up not being a flexible applicaton for users who think. Anyway, I would not be too hopeful about being able to import the data.

MY CPA is of course a pc/qb person too. But we work together fine, because I am the customer, and I want to work on in MYOB on a Mac. It's not perfect either, but I think it offers much more for the mac, at a lower cost, than even the most recent pro version of QB for mac. Good luck!
