Try Camino. I have found that the one or two web sites that Safari has a problem I can use Camino w/o a problem.

Re: Safari Not logging on Hotmail
Hi,

I just checked my hotmail this very moment with Safari as I do everyday and it worked fine for me. Are you sure it wasn't on their end that it wasn't working for you?

Re: Safari Not logging on Hotmail
I have trouble with Safari and Hotmail too. I can log in, but many times I can't get a tab to work. When trying to empty the junk mail box, I have to go back to the mail tab and then click back to junk mail box. I can empty it on the second try.

Strangly, I tried to use Explorer this morning and it wouldn't let me log into Hotmail. Now I wonder if it is a Safari or other Mac problem.

My Mac is a Digital Audio with 1GB of memory and 10.3.4

Re: Safari Not logging on Hotmail
I use Safari 99.9% of the time for my web browsing and I am able to connect to both my Hotmail and Amazon accounts just fine. You may want to try resettng Safari and dumping your cache (both under the Safari menu). Good luck!

Re: Safari Not logging on Hotmail
Did you try resetting Safari and/or emptying Safari's cache? It may have something to do with logging into secure sites. Can you log into any other secure sites such as a bank or paypal?

Re: Safari Not logging on Hotmail
Well, I am glad that it is ccleared up, but you should be able to access secure sites. Are you behind a firewall or proxy? Maybe youru ISP or proxy will only allow access to ceertain ports. just a thought.

Re: Safari Not logging on Hotmail
I don't think it is a hardware problem with your new, shiny PowerBook. As others have said, download Camino or Firefox and see if you can connect with either of those. Another option is to create a new user and try to log in from that account. Let us know what you come up with.

Re: Safari Not logging on Hotmail
Do try pressing refresh after the first failure. I get this sometimes and it nearly always works the second or third time.

Are you on dial-up? Try making sure you have nothing else downloading/uploading.

It may be that you have a slow connection and https sites take longer to connect to, maybe because they have to encode stuff , and are therefore more prone to the 60-second timeout than http.
