.QBB to .QBW

I have finally determined that due to a Software Reinstall, the original company database created by QB5.0 Pro has been lost. I doubt that I can recover it.

What I have is the Windows backup file from the accountant, which I cannot open. What must be done to these files in order to be read by QB5Pro??

get access to a windows machine and/or a copy of QB for windows restore the back up on the windows machine then copy the qbw file from the windows machine to the mac ver 6
