Computer wires

I have my computer wires laying on the base board of my heater. My base board is oil heat. Will the heat have any effect on the wires? I have oil heat.

Quite frankly it depends on how hot the heater gets.

Mild warmth won't do any harm, higher heats can cause the insulation to melt away, exposing the actual wire.

Just to be safe I would find some way get the cables off the heater. Simple clips on the wall above the baseboard so it doesn't touch is one way.

Richard, I used to have that same heat. Oil furnace, which heated water which circulated through the baseboard heaters.
They got hot to the touch on occasion, and that could certainly be hot enough to melt insulation. Best to come up with a creative way of overinsulating the cords, for instance with the foam stuff that you insulate a water pipe with. In any case, you'll want to keep a vigilant eye on the installation.
