Airtunes: output to plugged-in speaker and Airport

Hi, I have a quick question regarding Airtunes with Airport Express. I'm trying to play music in two rooms by connecting speakers to my audio-out on my Powerbook while streaming music to another room with an Airport Express. When I set the music to stream to the living room, however, the music no longer plays from the local plugged-in speakers. Is there a way to have Itunes output to both the audio-out and the Airport Express simultaneously?

Thanks in advance.

RocketFM could play your music in two rooms simultaneously, but not on your speakers attached to your PowerBook. You'd need a stereo/radio in both rooms.

Not sure what the range is on the RocketFM and I think there is a loss of some quality in the audio when broadcasting on FM. I would imagine the quality would be similar to what you get via this same company's iTrip device.

I'm not sure if I've got this right, but I think the challenge with getting AirTunes to play via speakers attached to an Airport Express while powered speakers attached to the computer play simultaneously has to do with iTunes wrapping the file in the Apple Lossless format before sending it to Airport Express. I think if it did play both places at once you'd experience a lag between rooms. Is this correct?

That's partly it. Coupled with network lag, you've got even more chance for lack of sync. Another issue is that as far as I know, there is no product that will distribute sound data to two outputs for OS X yet.
