"Icon" is a hidden file located inside a folder that saves the icon for that folder; an iMovie project, being a folder, could contain this file. OSX is complaining because "Icon" is actually named "Icon?" where "?" is some weird character or other.
in my opinion, not the best design choice here on apple's part, but that's another story.
is the external HD macintosh format? i'm not 100% sure if that has to do with anything though. i've never run into this problem before ... i thought i'd let you know what "Icon" is though, at least.
also, are you familiar w/ terminal? there are some easy terminal solutions if you are... let us know. if not, does anyone else have any ideas as to what is going on?

As said above if the hard drive is not formatted for Mac that will cause problems for any file with non-standard characters like "/" or "*". I ran into the same issue with my external and I just reformatted and all went well going forward. Luckily it was the first time I tried to use it so I didn't have to move a lot of files.
its Macintosh PC exchange (MS DOS). But i hardly care about that now as my harddrive failed on my powerbook before i could move the files. Ive posted this as a seperate issue on "dead powerbook. 11months old" as i cant believe they are related issues...
But sticking with the older query. What should i do with external harddrive?
Thanks.
