Screen Resolution vs screen size

I would like to get a large text size, say a resolution of 1024x768. Can anyone tell me if the actual image (size of text) will be larger at this resolution on a 20inch screen compared with that on a 17inch screen (LCD TFT) and if so by how much? Thanks for your help. George

Hi
Yes, the screen elements SHOULD be larger on a larger display with the same resolution. Well, as far as I know. I guess, the amount depends on how much the screen size change.

I know this sounds stupid, but it depends on what your text size is set at. I change mine all the time in Internet Explorer, Excel, Word, 10.2 Finder, etc. etc. I don't care what my screen resolution is, I'll change the text zoom to suit my needs.

Re: Screen Resolution vs screen size
1024 would be way to big on a 20" monitor. It will be like using 640x480 on a 17" monitor. The lower you go the bigger things will be.

Resolution means how many pixels are going to be displayed horizantally x vertically. Depending on the size of your monitor the pixels will be stretched to fit (or enlarged, whichever sounds better), so its best to use a higher resolution with a larger monitor so you get a better quality picture that isnt all blurry grainy.

I find the need to change text size most frequently when Net surfing. I have the Microsoft 5 button Intellemouse Optical set for wheel press-and-roll to adjust the text size. Super fast and convenient.

To do this, set the IntelliPoint control panel customization for Internet Explorer:
Press and Roll Forward Type "Command +"
Press and Roll Back Type "Command -"
