My iPod keeps turning on by itself and running out

My iPod has a problem:

Even though the Alarms setting is set to "off," I frequently will discover that my iPod has somehow switched on and resumed play without anyone turning it on. Also, this means that there are no batteries left.

How can I turn off the iPod and be sure that it will stay off until I use it? It's getting to be an annoying bug since I try to keep it charged but it never stays that way for long with this problem.

Thanks,

Make sure the 'lock' switch on the top is always set to lock. If it's still coming on, then you're probably going to have to try to catch it once when it's turning itself on to see if anything comes up on screen.

iPod menu > Extras > Clock > Alarm Clock.
