Airport Extreme Download

Am On Dial up- wish to upgrade my G4 Powerbook OSX to 10.3.8 & other updates. Approx how much REAL time required to download 120 MB + using wireless (T Mobile Hot Spot) at Borders or Starbucks?

Thank You

Depends on:
a) They are using 802.11b or g
b) Their connection speed to the Internet
c) The number of users on that network at the time of usage (and their usage pattern)

Because of all those factors, I think it's hard to estimate effectively.

I was thinking the same thing. The Starbucks near my office offers 802.11b, but it's one base station in the ceiling of the seating area, and the network connection is just a standard consumer 1.5Mbps DSL.

If you were the only one on that wireless node, you could download 120MB in just a reasonably few minutes. If there were 8 or 9 other customers in there sharing that bandwidth with you, it would take appreciably longer.

Still, it would likely be better then dialup.

also look into if your local library (or something) has any ethernet connections available for you to hook into. that might be faster.
